1St Team Performance Analyst at Cardiff City Fc
Job Description
Cardiff City FC are recruiting a 1st Team Performance Analyst to join their First Team analysis department, supporting player development, match preparation and the delivery of analysis across training and competition.
The successful candidate will have a particular focus on individual player development and learning, while contributing across the wider First Team analysis workflow.
The position combines individual learning plans, game-model development, training and match capture, opposition analysis and performance data, with the analyst working directly with coaches and First Team players.
- Own and maintain Individual Learning Plans for a group of First Team players.
- Build structured libraries of training and match clips linked to individual development objectives.
- Produce insight reports and video packages highlighting individual and team development trends and performance patterns.
- Build and maintain a library of best-practice training and match clips aligned to Cardiff City's game model.
- Ensure relevant content is easily accessible to players and coaches.
- Use video and data evidence to contribute to the continued refinement of the club's game model.
- Film and code all First Team training sessions.
- Support live capture at home and away fixtures, including wide-angle filming and live coding.
- Ensure match footage and associated data are delivered in accordance with league requirements.
- Produce post-match technical data reports at team and individual level.
- Report against evolving performance benchmarks.
- Produce pre-match opposition data reports and ad-hoc opposition analysis.
- Maintain league-wide databases to support monthly performance reviews.
The analyst will also assist with unit and individual player meetings, support research projects and respond to analytical requests from senior management and the coaching team.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong practical knowledge of Hudl, Sportscode, Insight, Wyscout, Final Cut Pro, Keynote and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent IT capability across Apple and Windows environments.
- Strong understanding of contemporary football tactics and the demands of professional football.
- Experience managing large-scale video and data libraries, including individual player databases and game-model libraries.
- Excellent organisation, communication and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a First Team analysis department.
- Degree in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, or an MSc in a related discipline.
- Previous experience working as a Performance Analyst within a professional football club.
This is a strong applied First Team role for an analyst interested in moving beyond traditional match analysis into individual player development and learning.
The ownership of Individual Learning Plans, combined with responsibility for game-model libraries, opposition work, data reporting and direct player interaction, provides a broad role within Cardiff City's First Team environment.
