Job Description

Newcastle United are recruiting an Academy Goalkeeper Scout Analyst to identify, assess and monitor emerging goalkeeper talent across the UK and Europe.

The role combines live scouting, video analysis and performance data, providing evidence-based recommendations to support Academy recruitment decisions and the club’s longer-term talent strategy.

This is a specialist recruitment position focused specifically on the identification and evaluation of emerging goalkeepers.

The successful candidate will combine live observation with video and quantitative analysis to build a comprehensive understanding of potential recruits, considering their technical, tactical, physical and psychological attributes.

  • Identify and assess Academy goalkeeper talent across the UK and Europe through live and video scouting.
  • Assess players against Newcastle United’s recruitment strategy, playing philosophy and positional requirements.
  • Monitor identified goalkeepers across multiple viewings to assess progression, consistency and long-term potential.
  • Build detailed player profiles combining scouting observations, video and performance data.
  • Produce video packages and presentation materials to support recruitment discussions.
  • Analyse goalkeeper performance data and integrate quantitative evidence into scouting assessments.
  • Maintain recruitment databases, scouting platforms and reporting systems.
  • Identify emerging talent, recruitment opportunities and succession-planning options.
  • Develop specialist knowledge of goalkeeper markets and player pathways across the UK and Europe.
  • Contribute to the continued development of goalkeeper scouting methodologies and recruitment processes.

The analyst will also represent Newcastle United at fixtures, tournaments and industry events while developing relevant scouting networks.

An undergraduate degree in a sport-related discipline, equivalent relevant qualification and/or experience within an elite football environment.

  • FA Talent ID qualification, or working towards.
  • Goalkeeper coaching qualification – FA Goalkeeping Level 1 or equivalent.
  • Performance Analysis qualification.

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong understanding of football performance, game models, playing styles and player profiling.
  • Specialist knowledge of goalkeeper-specific technical, tactical, physical and psychological attributes.
  • Significant experience identifying and monitoring player potential, particularly within youth and emerging-talent environments.
  • Experience across both live and video-based scouting.
  • Ability to combine observations, video footage and performance data into evidence-based player recommendations.
  • Experience with platforms including Wyscout, Hudl, Sportscode and Studio.
  • Strong video editing, player clip creation, presentation and report-writing skills.

Candidates must also be willing to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Previous experience within an elite football scouting, recruitment or Performance Analysis environment is desirable, particularly experience assessing goalkeepers within professional Academy or First Team settings. Knowledge of UK and European youth markets and experience using recruitment databases are also advantageous.

The position requires an appropriate enhanced criminal records check with BLC due to responsibilities involving players under 18 and/or adults at risk of harm.
