Job Description
Watford Football Club have academy analysis internship placement opportunities available for the 2025/2026 football season. The successful applicants will work closely across multiple age groups throughout the academy. You will learn and develop within a fast pace and, at times, a demanding elite environment.
These placements are for prospective Master’s students who will be beginning their course in Sports Performance Analysis at University of Chichester in the next academic year; will be unpaid, however expenses will be covered. Key roles and responsibilities within this internship will include:
- To assist with all performance analysis undertaken within the academy.
- To attend academy matchdays to record match footage for match analysis (live and post-match) and for distribution to the players and staff so they can review the video footage from the match.
- To produce detailed match analysis for academy teams by producing philosophy driven team reports and using video footage to support key points.
- Use of analysis software such as Hudl SportsCode and Coda to collect objective data from academy games and training aligning to the academy’s playing philosophy.
- Update video and statistical databases weekly.
- Record training sessions across academy using variety of filming methods including masts and IP cameras.
- To help manage and maintain department equipment.
- To help ensure that the department fulfils EPPP requirements for the academy.
- To undertake any departmental and/or club CPD.

- Placements are considered full-time however working hours will vary depending on the fixture list of all teams; please note evenings and weekend hours will be required but a flexible approach to each students circumstances will be offered.

1 Related Sports Science/Coaching Undergraduate Degree
2 Coaching Experience/Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
5 Knowledge & understanding of football
6 Knowledge of Microsoft software e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc…
7 Knowledge of Apple software e.g. Keynote, Pages, iMovie
8 Experience within a sporting environment (preferably football)
Personal Qualities
9 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (team, coach, and player interaction)
10 Proactive attitude within the role
11 Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks
12 A high level of confidentiality
13 Flexibility and willingness to learn
14 Ability to work calmly under pressure
