Job Summary/Description:

The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for operations and maintenance of Raycom Sports mobile production units, facilities, and equipment. They primarily work on live remote sports productions, including setup, programming, operation, troubleshooting, repairs, inventory, and packing of broadcast-related equipment and production trucks/trailers. This position is based on the East Coast of the USA and requires travel to event locations.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Set up, program, operate, repair, and maintain mobile broadcast production units, internal production facilities, and equipment
  • Installation, documentation, and evaluation of new and replacement broadcast equipment
  • Research and recommend new equipment and technologies to improve the efficiency of production operations
  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and apprentices
  • Administration and coordination of equipment maintenance
  • Participate in technology-related projects
  • Manage special projects as assigned
  • Being a team player with a good work ethic to support coworkers, vendors, and clients
  • Client-focused, with a track record of strong relationships and service excellence.
  • Excellent people skills; able to communicate with tact, patience, and professionalism.
  • Self-starter and strong troubleshooter who can adapt in a fast-paced, live-event setting.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear, timely reports.
  • Current on broadcast technology trends and best operational practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and driven to deliver high-quality results.
  • Flexible work schedule including working days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency on-call
  • Extensive travel is required both regionally and nationally
  • Percent of travel required: 80%.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in broadcast engineering and/or remote production engineering experience

Certifications and licenses:

  • Current valid driver's license and good driving record required

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Company-provided hardware and software. Proficient in broadcast and production hardware and software. Working Knowledge of IT Processes, including Network Security, Workflow, and Network Management
