Job Description
Position: Football Communications Coordinator
Department: Communications
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Vice President of Communications
Status: Full-time (Exempt)
Position Summary
As part of the Carolina Panthers football communications department, the football communications coordinator works closely on the day-to-day operations of the department.
Primary Responsibilities
• This position is the primary contributor for the following:
• Creation and distribution of game notes packets and statistics to media using the OMG software.
• Statistical research projects.
• Media availability periods.
• Copy editor for internal and external communication from other departments.
• Fulfillment of external media and internal departmental requests for players, coaches and staff.
• Preparation of coordinators for weekly media availability as well as assistant coaches and players for interviews.
• Design, writing, copy editing and production of team’s annual media guide.
• Support with the coordination and fulfillment of credential requests for all media – including broadcast partners – attending Panthers home games and with preparation of press box seating chart.
• Assist in intern recruitment and selection process.
• Supervise gameday staff and coordinate post-game quote transcription for all home games.
• Provide communications support for all Panthers games – home and away – and media availabilities.
• Establish and maintain a good relationship with local and regional media outlets.
• Independently develop and pitch new ideas to increase media coverage.
• Assist in coordination of publicity strategy, messaging and issue management.
• Transcribe various press conferences and interviews.
• Monitor and track media coverage of the Panthers.
• Other responsibilities as needed related to Tepper Sports and Entertainment.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, sports management or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in sports public relations/communications or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Must be available to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
• Must pass pre-employment screens

• Must exhibit professionalism when interacting with staff, members of the media, and players/coaches
• Must exhibit professionalism as it relates to budget management and meeting deadlines

• Must be able to handle confidential, privileged, and/or sensitive information with care and sensitivity.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills.
• Act as a role model within and outside of Tepper Sports & Entertainment
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
Physical Requirements
• Standing and walking outdoors for extended periods of time
• Sitting and working at desk on a computer
• Walking throughout the stadium
• Lift at least 25 pounds
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment (mostly office environment, outside in a stadium facility at times which may include inclement weather conditions). This position may require travel.
