SUMMARY:
This full-time at-will position reports to the Sr. Director of Fields & Grounds and the Superintendent of Fields and Grounds – ZBTC. Under their supervision, Field Manager II participates in the maintenance of five natural grass fields and three artificial fields at the Herriman, Utah facility. The Field Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of said fields and will help supervise up to 4 part-time employees. They will monitor moisture levels, hand water, mow, aerate, fertilize, etc. This position will also help with set up and field prep at Zions Bank Stadium (located on site) for various events such as soccer, football, lacrosse, rugby, ultimate frisbee, etc. This position is a great opportunity to participate in the maintenance of one of the premier practice facilities in Major League Soccer and NWSL.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Candidate will be able to perform:
o Irrigation programing, operation, installation, and maintenance
o Help manage daily responsibilities/tasks for crew
o Prepare fields for various sporting events in soccer, rugby, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, high school football, etc.
o Fertilizing with liquid and granular products
o Develop and implement fertilizer programs for fields and landscapes
o Artificial Turf Maintenance and Repair including scrubbing paint lines
o Painting field markings and logos
o Aeration
o Field Testing
o Trash removal
o Landscape plant installation and removal
• The operation and maintenance of power equipment such as:
o Reel and Rotary Mowers
o Tractors
o Toro Utility vehicles
o Trimmers
o Edgers
o Blowers
o Top Dressers
o Aerators
o Fertilizer Sprayers
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two or four-year degree in turfgrass management or Turfgrass Certificate suggested but not preferred
• Possession of a valid driver's license and excellent driving record
• Able to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays while in all weather conditions
• Working knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields; the seeding, sodding and maintenance practices for sports field turfgrass; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including pumps and automatic controls
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working in professional Sports Turf Maintenance, Golf Courses, Professional Landscaping or Parks and Recreation preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 75 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, typing, etc.
