Job Description
ROLE: FIRST TEAM ANALYST
LOCATION: TICKET OFFICE, CELTIC PARK
Celtic Football Club is currently seeking a First Team Analyst to join our team.
Reporting to the Head of Analysis, the First Team Analyst will play a crucial role in providing strategic and tactical insights to support the coaching staff and first team players in enhancing performance on the field.
### Key accountabilities will include:
- Collect, organise and present match data, performance statistics and video footage identifying strengths, weaknesses and patterns of both the team and opposition for the First Team Manager and coaching staff
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to develop game plans, open play and set play strategies and tactical adjustments based on data analysis and insights
- Create visual presentations, reports and performance dashboards to communicate key findings and recommendations to the First Team Manager, players and coaching staff
- Travel & live-scout upcoming opponents, both domestically & in European competition
- Conduct opposition analysis and subsequent pre-match meetings with coaching staff to preview upcoming opponents, identifying areas of strength & weakness relating to opposing teams
- Stay informed of industry trends, technological advancements, innovations and best practices in respect of performance analysis methodologies to maintain the relevance of current practices and ensure the development of the team’s analytical capabilities
- Be able to support, when required, the implementation of other sports science and performance monitoring tools to track player fitness, workload and recovery metrics
- Collaborate with internal and external providers regarding performance analysis tools and software, ensuring that we maximise the effective use of these systems and continually develop our user capability
- Initiate and carry out ad-hoc research projects for the benefit of team and individual performances
- Complete additional activities for the department as required
### Essential Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, or other sports & exercise science related field
- Knowledge of key performance analysis systems and other software packages including HUDL, WyScout, Sportscode & Coachpaint
- Comfortable handling data sets using StatsBomb and understanding how to incorporate data into a feedback process with players & coaching staff
- Evidence of football knowledge through coaching qualifications, playing experience, previous analysis work, and/or a current football blog.
- Previous experience of working within an elite football environment
- Experience of observing and/or being exposed to varying footballing and/or sporting environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of varying working methodologies, as well as an acute understanding of examples of best practice in football analysis
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, alongside excellent report writing abilities and the ability to communicate with various audiences and levels of management
- The ability to work with discretion and maintain high levels of confidentiality at all times
- The ability to have difficult conversations and deliver constructive feedback
### Desirable Experience:
- UEFA B Licence
- ISPAS accreditation or similar relevant qualification or accreditation.
- RPA operator accreditation or similar relevant qualification or accreditation
### Additional:
- Some flexibility may be required in working hours by prior agreement, e.g. weekday matches
- A full driving licence
