Job Description
Sheffield United FC are seeking an experienced First Team Opposition Analyst to join their senior performance analysis department.
Working closely with the Head of Analysis and First Team coaching staff, you'll lead the delivery of high-quality opposition analysis, providing detailed tactical insights that support match preparation, player development and performance on the pitch.

As First Team Opposition Analyst, you'll take the lead on opposition analysis, producing detailed tactical reports and presentations tailored to the coaching staff, units and individual players.
You'll combine video analysis, statistical insight and interactive reporting to support game planning, while contributing to long-term analytical projects and helping drive innovation across the department.
The role also involves travelling to home, away and opposition fixtures as required.
- Lead the analysis of upcoming opponents, delivering detailed tactical reports to coaches and players.
- Tailor feedback to team, unit and individual requirements.
- Support match preparation through objective, evidence-based insights.
- Interpret performance data and produce statistical, visual and interactive reports.
- Maintain analytical databases aligned with the club's playing philosophy.
- Contribute to longitudinal projects exploring tactical trends across competitions.
- Deliver additional analytical projects as required by the coaching staff.
- Stay up to date with developments in performance analysis technologies and methodologies.
- Share best practice and innovative approaches across the analysis department.
- Travel to home, away and opposition matches to support analysis delivery.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- BSc in Sport Performance Analysis, Sports Science or a related discipline.
- Experience working in performance analysis within an elite football environment.
- Strong tactical understanding with the ability to analyse both team and opposition playing styles.
- Excellent working knowledge of coding and telestration software, including Hudl Sportscode or Angles.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Professionalism when working with players and coaching staff.
- A proactive approach to continuous professional development.
- MSc in Sport Performance Analysis, Sports Science or a related discipline.
- Previous experience delivering opposition analysis within a First Team environment.
- Experience using analytical platforms such as Tableau, Wyscout and Opta.
