Job Description

Norwich City FC are seeking a First Team Scout to join the club’s Scouting Department and play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and recommending players across domestic and international markets.

Reporting to the Head of Scouting, the successful candidate will combine extensive video scouting with targeted live scouting to support the club’s recruitment strategy, delivering high-quality player evaluations and market intelligence that align with Norwich City’s football philosophy and squad-building objectives.

⚽ Key Responsibilities

  • Develop expert knowledge of players across assigned domestic and international markets
  • Identify, evaluate, and monitor players through a combination of video scouting and live observation
  • Produce detailed scouting reports and player evaluations
  • Create and maintain target and monitoring lists across designated territories
  • Benchmark potential recruits against current squad profiles and positional requirements
  • Utilise video, data analytics, and market intelligence to support player assessment and recruitment recommendations
  • Gather intelligence on player availability, contractual situations, and emerging market opportunities
  • Support wider due diligence processes on recruitment targets
  • Contribute to succession planning and long-term recruitment strategies
  • Work closely with the Head of Scouting Operations to ensure effective market coverage
  • Build and maintain relationships with clubs, agents, intermediaries, and football stakeholders
  • Contribute to recruitment meetings, player dossiers, and strategic discussions
  • Support the development of modern scouting methodologies and best practices across the department

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in player identification and evaluation within professional football
  • Demonstrable track record of identifying and recommending players who have delivered positive sporting and/or financial outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international player markets
  • Excellent technical and tactical understanding of football
  • Experience combining video scouting, live scouting, and data analytics within recruitment processes
  • Strong communication, presentation, and report-writing skills
  • Data literate with the ability to utilise analytical tools to support decision-making
  • Proficiency with platforms such as Hudl Wyscout, Hudl Sportscode, Scoutastic, or similar software
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel extensively

  • Experience working within an elite football environment
  • FA Talent Identification Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
  • UEFA B Coaching Licence (or equivalent)
  • Additional language skills relevant to international markets
  • Previous professional or semi-professional playing experience
