First Team Scout at Swansea City Afc
Job Description
Swansea City AFC are recruiting a First Team Scout to join their First Team Recruitment department.
The role will assess players identified through the club’s internal scouting and recruitment systems and provide clear recommendations to support the continued strengthening of the First Team squad. The position is primarily video-based, supplemented by live scouting assignments where required.
The First Team Scout will work across player identification, video scouting, live observation and recruitment intelligence, helping the club evaluate potential targets against Swansea City’s game model, playing philosophy and positional requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Recruitment Operations & Analysis Lead, wider Recruitment department and Data & Analytics team, combining traditional scouting expertise with technology and data-informed player identification.
- Identify potential recruitment targets through video scouting, live observation and traditional scouting methods.
- Complete detailed video and live player assessments and maintain accurate records within the club’s scouting system.
- Produce video playlists and supporting content on identified targets for coaches and key decision-makers.
- Provide clear player recommendations to support recruitment discussions.
- Liaise with agents and external contacts to gather relevant transfer-market intelligence.
- Evaluate players against the First Team’s game model, playing philosophy and positional profiles.
- Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to develop talent-identification and player-assessment processes.
- Develop networks within designated markets and maintain knowledge of players, clubs and potential transfer opportunities.
- Share relevant player and market intelligence across the Recruitment department.
- Operate effectively during demanding periods, particularly transfer windows.
A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Sports Management or a related discipline is preferred, while previous experience in a scouting or video analysis role within a professional football club is highly desirable.
