Football Data Science Assistant at Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders Football Data Scientist Assistant will work under the direction of the Director of Football Strategy to support the Club’s Football Operations department through the design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of systems for football data analysis and other departmental initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a comprehensive understanding of professional football operations. This role requires the ability to transform complex datasets into actionable insights that directly contribute to competitive performance and organizational success.

Essential Job Functions

* Develop, maintain, and optimize Python-based analytical applications and internal tools for Football Operations.

* Design and implement machine learning models to support player evaluation, game strategy, injury prevention, roster construction, and opponent analysis.

* Scrape, clean, manipulate, and integrate structured and unstructured data from internal and external football data sources.

* Build scalable analytical workflows and maintain procedures and scheduled data processes.

* Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all codebases, models, and systems.

* Collaborate with coaching staff, scouting personnel, player personnel, sports science, and executive leadership to deliver actionable football insights.

* Assist in maintaining and improving the Club’s proprietary football databases and analytical infrastructure.

* Present analytical findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

* Support departmental projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.

* Demonstrated experience in sports analytics research, with a strong emphasis on projects involving player tracking data considered a significant advantage.

* Deep understanding of machine learning methodologies and predictive modeling techniques.

* Highly proficient in Python and experience with data science libraries and frameworks.

* Demonstrated experience building and deploying analytical tools, models, or applications.

* Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Demonstrated knowledge of professional football, including strategy, personnel evaluation, and game operations.

* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-performance environment.

* Must be flexible with work schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, training camp, and game days.

Physical Aspects of Position (includes but are not limited to):

* Sitting for long periods of time throughout shift.

* Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25lbs.

* Occasional walking, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
