Position Summary St. Louis CITY SC is seeking a Data Science Intern to support the club’s Performance Analytics function within a high-performance, elite sporting environment. This role will contribute to the integration, analysis, and visualization of player performance data across First Team, CITY2, and Academy levels. Working closely with the First Team Performance Data Scientist, this position will play a key role in building scalable data solutions and delivering insights that drive competitive advantage, player development, and performance optimization across the club. Key Responsibilities • Support the design and development of performance dashboards and reporting tools used across all levels of the club • Integrate and manage data from key performance systems, including GPS, VALD, and SkillCorner • Assist in building and maintaining robust data pipelines and workflows to support a high-performance environment • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility to enable informed decision-making • Collaborate with coaching, sports science, and performance staff to translate data into actionable insights • Contribute to ongoing analytics initiatives aimed at enhancing on-field performance and competitive advantage Qualifications Required: • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field • Proficiency in R, Python and SQL • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar) • Strong foundation in data manipulation, analysis, and problem-solving Preferred: • Experience working with elite sport or performance data environments • Familiarity with GPS tracking systems, athlete monitoring tools (e.g., VALD), and/or optical tracking data (e.g., SkillCorner) • Understanding of time-series data and performance analysis in sport Additional Requirements: • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data quality and continuous improvement • Ability to communicate complex insights clearly to a variety of stakeholders • Collaborative and adaptable in a fast-paced, high-performance setting • Strong interest in soccer and applying data to drive performance outcomes St. Louis CITY SC is building a team that is passionate about their work, the success of our Club and the growth and revitalization of our region.
