Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Academy Analyst to play a pivotal role within an elite academy environment, leading the analysis provision for the U18 Professional Development Phase while supporting the strategic direction of the wider Insights Department.
This role combines leadership, performance analysis, data systems development and player development, working collaboratively with coaches and multidisciplinary staff to enhance individual and team performance throughout the academy.
As Lead Academy Analyst, you will lead the delivery of analysis support for the U18 squad while providing leadership across the academy's Insights department.
Working within the Professional Development Phase, you'll develop innovative analysis workflows, oversee student analysts, manage analytical technologies and provide impactful video and data insights that support coaching decisions and long-term player development.

- Lead the analysis provision for the U18 Professional Development Phase.
- Deliver high-quality pre-match, live and post-match analysis.
- Support coaches through video presentations and performance reports.
- Develop individual and team KPIs alongside the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to Individual Development Plans (IDPs) through evidence-based analysis.
- Lead the development and implementation of analysis workflows across the Insights department.
- Ensure consistency and best practice across academy age groups.
- Lead weekly departmental meetings and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Monitor departmental objectives and support strategic planning.
- Design and implement efficient analytical workflows and bespoke data systems.
- Promote best practice in video capture, coding, data management and visualisation.
- Manage analysis hardware, software and technological infrastructure.
- Drive innovation through continual review of emerging analysis methodologies.
- Recruit, induct and mentor academy analysis students.
- Support staff development in coding workflows and video presentation techniques.
- Share CPD learning across the Insights department and multidisciplinary team.
- Work closely with coaches and multidisciplinary practitioners to support player development.
- Help deliver a tailored, player-centred approach across the U18 programme.
- Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and player welfare.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Minimum two years' experience working as an analyst (or similar role) within elite sport.
- Experience using performance data to monitor and support player development.
- Strong understanding of elite football environments and player development pathways.
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Hudl Sportscode
- Hudl Insight
- Microsoft Power BI
- Experience designing analytical workflows for pre-match, live and post-match analysis.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills using video and data.
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- High emotional intelligence and a genuine commitment to developing young players.
- Competence using Apple Mac systems and Microsoft Office.
- UEFA C Licence.
- Experience conducting case study research to support Individual Development Plans.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and iterative development processes.
- UEFA B Licence.
- CAA Drone Operator ID.
- FA Safeguarding qualification.
- FA First Aid qualification.
- Creative approach to process improvement and innovation.
- Curiosity for the continued evolution of football insights and performance analysis.
