Job Description

Job Overview The main responsibility of the Lead Northern UK Scout is to identify and recommend players for Brentford Football Club’s First Team & B Team from the North of the UK. The ‘UK North’ region covers from Northern England down to Central Midlands. Feeding into the UK Recruitment function within the wider recruitment department, the successful applicant will be expected to build a detailed knowledge of players within their region, recommending players accordingly and decisively. Key Responsibilities • To contribute to the identification, assessment and shortlisting of suitable player targets for Brentford Football Club from First Team and U21 football in the North of England • To attend live fixtures in the English Football League, Premier League 2, Professional Development League and other leagues as necessary • To collaborate and work closely with the Lead Technical Scout and Head of UK Recruitment regarding targeted video assessments of suitable player profiles identified through data/resource in targeted area • To provide monthly position specific player recommendations focusing on appropriate players for Brentford Football Club’s First Team and B Team from designated area • To work effectively within the defined Scouting Department processes to ensure serious players of interest are identified, and progressed, faster and more effectively than our competitors. • To watch videos of potential players of interest and file reports in line with the Recruitment Departments process. • To assist in the coverage of live/video viewings of selected UK National Teams’ fixtures from U17 - Senior Squads • To work closely with the Lead Technical Scout / Head of UK Recruitment to ensure comprehensive due diligence on all players of interest. • To assist the Lead Technical Scout / Head of UK Recruitment on any additional responsibilities relevant to your role and area covered. • To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels. Knowledge • Minimum 2 years’ experience / knowledge of working within a professional football club scouting department • Existing high-level knowledge / experience of English Football League, Premier League 2 and Professional Development League football • Talent ID related qualifications and/or sports related Bachelor’s degree qualification or similar • Ability to attend live games and identify the best, most suitable players for a football club’s positional criteria • Ability to work with data / resource to provide assessment on players in alignment with a football club’s positional criteria • Ability to articulate player assessments effectively through verbal and written communication • Ability to work effectively within clearly defined processes • Organized, structured, and process driven • Proactive mindset Specialist Skills • Experience of using relevant football scouting video platforms • Ability to edit / clip video footage using platforms such as WyScout, iMovie, Windows Video Editor etc. • IT literate, competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint People Skills • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders including; Technical Director, Head of Recruitment, Chief Scout, Head of UK Recruitment, Lead Technical Scout UK, Lead Southern UK Scout, Lead Scouts of other areas • A strong and established network of contacts working within football across various levels External Impact • Represent the club visibly and professionally within the target area • Maintain strong and professional relationships with all stakeholders within the target area Decision Making • Organise personal schedule, combining live and technical viewings of targets, ensuring full coverage of target area • Submit monthly recommendations from target area in line with the department’s processes General Club Accountabilities • To comply with all Club policies, including health and safety, data regulations and other legal, ethical and social requirements • To build and maintain good working relationships while maintaining a professional image • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel • To always maintain a flexible approach to work Inclusion Statement Brentford FC is proud to be an organisation that values equity, diversity and inclusion.
