Job Description
The First Team Performance Analyst will support the Head Coach and technical staff through the delivery of high-quality tactical, technical, and data-driven insights. The role is responsible for match analysis, opposition scouting, training analysis, and post-match reporting to enhance individual and team performance.
Operating within a newly promoted Championship environment, the role requires agility, accuracy, and the ability to deliver actionable outputs under tight turnaround timelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Match Analysis
Lead live and post-match coding of all first-team fixtures.
Produce post-match reports including tactical trends, KPIs, and performance metrics.
Deliver visual and video presentations to coaching staff within agreed timelines.
Opposition Analysis
Conduct detailed opposition scouting reports.
Identify tactical structures, pressing triggers, build-up patterns, and transition behaviours.
Provide pre-match analytical packs and presentation support to coaching staff.
Training & Player Monitoring
Capture and analyse training sessions.
Support individual player reviews through clipped footage and data dashboards.
Collaborate with sports science and medical teams where relevant.
Data & Systems Management
Maintain coding frameworks and tagging consistency.
Utilise performance analysis software (e.g. Hudl Sportscode, Wyscout, StatsBomb).
Contribute to the development of analytical processes and reporting templates.
Operational Support
Attend all first-team fixtures (home and away).
Travel as required.
MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education/Qualifications/Training:
Undergraduate degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Data Analytics, or related discipline (essential).
Postgraduate qualification in Performance Analysis or Sports Analytics (desirable).
FA or equivalent analyst accreditation (desirable).
Specific Experience:
Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a professional football environment.
Experience supporting first-team or elite academy environments preferred.
Demonstrable experience within EFL structure desirable.
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in video analysis platforms (e.g. Hudl Sportscode).
Strong working knowledge of data tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI or equivalent).
Understanding of tactical principles within Championship-level football.
Ability to interpret event and tracking data.
