Job Description
Walsall FC is seeking an ambitious and innovative Men's First Team Analyst to join its Football Department.
Working closely with the Head Coach, coaching staff and wider performance team, you'll deliver evidence-based performance analysis that supports tactical planning, player development and matchday decision-making.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a professional football environment, helping drive continuous improvement through video analysis, performance data and applied football insight.
As Men's First Team Analyst, you'll lead the capture, coding and analysis of First Team matches and training sessions, providing timely, objective and actionable insights that support coaching practice and performance.
You'll oversee live analysis operations, deliver opposition reports, maintain analysis systems and collaborate across the performance department to maximise the impact of data and video analysis.
The role also includes supporting the development of interns and aligning analytical practices across the First Team and Academy.
- Capture, code and analyse all First Team matches using industry-standard analysis software.
- Film, archive and analyse all First Team training sessions.
- Deliver detailed post-match reports against agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Produce timely, relevant insights to support coaching decisions and player development.
- Analyse upcoming opponents to identify tactical trends, strengths, weaknesses and key players.
- Produce clear, engaging reports and presentations for match preparation.
- Support matchday planning through evidence-based tactical analysis.
- Oversee live analysis operations and analytical workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and maximise available technologies.
- Maintain efficient video libraries, data systems and reporting standards.
- Collaborate with performance staff to centralise data and produce daily performance reports.
- Support the recruitment, induction and development of interns and placement students.
- Provide guidance and support to the Academy Lead Analyst to ensure alignment across the football programme.
- Contribute to the continued development of best practice within the analysis department.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Degree in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, Coaching or a related discipline.
- Experience using Hudl Sportscode, Hudl Replay, Wyscout or equivalent analysis software.
- Strong understanding of football tactics, coaching principles and game models.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and matchdays.
- A proactive approach with a strong desire to learn and develop.
- PFSA Level 2 or Level 3 Performance Analysis qualification.
- FA Level 2, UEFA C Licence or higher.
- Previous experience working within professional or elite football.
