Job Description

Job Summary & Responsibilities Strengthening and empowering all of the communities we serve. NJ Advance Media is seeking a dynamic Multimedia Content Creator to join our industry-leading High School Sports team. In this role, you’ll help drive NJ.com’s off-site audience growth, elevate sponsorable products, and reach the next generation of sports fans — especially student-athletes — on the platforms they use every day. You'll have the opportunity to experiment with format, tone and style to gain an understanding of what resonates with younger audiences. We’re looking for a multimedia creator with on-air presence who can report, host, produce, announce, and innovate across multiple platforms - a digitally fluent storyteller who thrives in front of and behind the camera, and is adaptable, collaborative, and passionate about telling great stories in new ways. If you have a strong reporting background, proven experience building relationships, breaking news, and providing evaluation and analysis essential for NJ.com’s signature rankings plus are comfortable hosting podcasts, appearing on camera, contributing to livestreams, and producing engaging short-form content for social platforms, we want to hear from you! The base salary range is $55,000 - $60,000 per year. This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events. What you’ll be doing: • Report on a designated high school sport each season as part of a collaborative team • Produce timely, accurate, and compelling content, including breaking news, features, previews, rankings, and analysis • Build strong relationships with coaches, athletes, families, and the HS sports community • Serve as host and producer of NJ.com’s weekly high school sports podcasts, building rundowns, and developing themes to shape the show’s editorial identity • Coordinate with reporters, editors, managers, social producers, and guests to reach younger audiences • Act as play-by-play announcer for NJ.com’s live-streamed high school sports broadcasts, collaborating with producers, camera operators, and color analysts • Provide pregame insights, storylines, and context to enhance broadcasts for audiences and sponsors • Create video optimized for NJ.com’s branded social platforms • Experiment with interviews, roundtables, breakdowns, on-site segments, and new formats • Identify opportunities for new content series, verticals, and formats to drive growth across YouTube, audio platforms, social media, and emerging channels Our ideal candidate will have the following: • A minimum of 2 years’ experience reporting on high school sports (or similar competitive environments) • Strong news judgment and the ability to generate compelling story ideas • On-air experience (podcasting, livestreams, video hosting) • Experience with digital-forward techniques (short-form video, social-first content, storytelling threads, live updates) • Ability to work quickly, accurately, and creatively under deadlines • Strong communication and collaboration skills • A passion for innovation in sports storytelling
