Pathways Rugby Performance Analyst Women at Irfu
Job Description
The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) is inviting applications for a Pathways Performance Analyst – Women’s Rugby to join its Analytics Department.
The successful candidate will provide a high-quality performance analysis service across the Women’s Rugby Pathway, supporting the development of players and coaches from age-grade and pathway programmes through towards the senior international environment.
Working within the existing IRFU Analytics Department, the analyst will have primary responsibility for analysis provision across the Women’s Pathway and will work closely with the Head of Women’s Performance & Pathways, Head of Analytics & Innovation and National Team Women’s Analyst.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as Lead Analyst for the Women’s National Talent Squad
- Leading analysis provision across the Celtic Challenge, including serving as team analyst for one team and coordinating support for another
- Leading analysis for the U21 Women’s Six Nations campaign
- Overseeing and coordinating analysis support for the U18 Women’s Six Nations campaign
- Supporting IRFU High Performance teams where required
- Working across teams from age-grade through to senior level
- Capturing and managing training and match footage
- Conducting opposition analysis, including identifying key players, threats and relevant tactical information
- Supporting coaches with analysis meetings and presentations
- Liaising with team management and analysis staff to ensure consistent practice across programmes
- Travelling to tournaments and matches with IRFU teams as required
- Providing accurate, concise and actionable information to players, coaches and other performance staff
A central part of the position will be ensuring Women’s Pathway players and coaches receive appropriate exposure to international-standard performance analysis before progressing into the senior system.
Applicants should have:
- Excellent knowledge of rugby
- A minimum BSc qualification in Sports Science or a related discipline
- Excellent knowledge of the Hudl product suite
- Strong numeracy and data-handling skills
- In-depth knowledge of the Apple product suite
- The ability to translate large datasets into clear, actionable insights
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively disseminate analytical information
