Referral Coordinator at Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics
Job Description
Summary/objective
The referral coordinator is responsible for managing the referral process for the practice. This includes coordinating referrals from primary care and ER physicians, ensuring timely and accurate triage and communication between all parties involved.
This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to our physical locations in Central Indiana, primarily Carmel, for training and staff meetings as needed.

- Receive referrals from primary care physicians, ER physicians, or other external providers, either electronically or through other communication channels.
- Coordinate appointments and scheduling for referred patients taking into account physician preferences, urgency of care, and availability of providers.
- Communicate effectively with patients, primary care providers, specialists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure seamless coordination of care.
- Provide support and serve as excellent resource to physicians and staff regarding current insurance policies, benefits and authorization/referral requirements
- Accurately input patient demographic and medical information into the EMR, ensuring completeness and adherence to data entry protocols.
- Maintain excellent working relationship with all physicians, providers, management, insurance carriers, internal departmental and external business staff, consistently demonstrating a high degree of respect and professionalism.
- Provide back-up to the Scheduling team via answering queue calls during high-volume call periods

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Degree in healthcare related field or Athletic Training Certification preferred
- At least three (3) years of work experience in a healthcare setting with a preferred knowledge of orthopedic
medical terminology
- Must consistently demonstrate outstanding customer service, be detail oriented, and highly organized
- Available to work Monday through Friday, between 8:00a - 5:00p.
- Remote / Hybrid position, associate must be local to Indiana - training done in person
