Academy Performance Analyst at England Rugby
Job Description
England Rugby are recruiting an Academy Performance Analyst to lead the Performance Analysis provision within the Yorkshire Rugby Academy.
Reporting to the Academy Programme Lead, the successful candidate will take responsibility for designing, delivering and managing the Academy’s Performance Analysis service, using video, data and tactical insight to support coaches and the development of young players.
The position combines hands-on analysis with responsibility for developing how Performance Analysis is integrated into the Academy’s wider player-development environment.
- Lead the design and delivery of Performance Analysis across Yorkshire Rugby Academy.
- Coordinate the filming, coding and analysis of Academy matches and training.
- Support Junior Academy Festivals and ACE partner fixtures.
- Produce individual and team performance reviews.
- Work with coaches and specialist staff to integrate analysis into individual player development plans.
- Develop analysis literacy among players and coaches.
- Analyse upcoming opposition and contribute to tactical previews.
- Create engaging, player-centred video presentations to support tactical learning.
- Manage Performance Analysis systems, online platforms, video and player data.
- Ensure analysis is delivered in a timely and actionable way to support coaching decisions.
- Contribute to the Academy’s wider strategic and operational objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a Performance Analysis role, preferably within rugby.
- Proficiency with Hudl, Sportscode or equivalent analysis software.
- Strong understanding of rugby union, including tactics, game models and player development.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel when required.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Master’s degree in a related discipline.
- Previous experience within an Academy environment.
- Familiarity with data visualisation tools and techniques.

Importantly, the role goes beyond simply filming and coding. The analyst will lead the Academy provision, contribute to individual development planning and help players and coaches become more effective users of analysis.
