Assistant Coach Analysis Management at Chicago Fire Fc
Job Description
Chicago Fire FC are seeking an Assistant Coach to support the First Team Head Coach in delivering a high-performance environment, player development, match preparation, and tactical implementation.
This role combines coaching, analysis, player development, opponent scouting, and leadership responsibilities, with a particular focus on managing the First Team Analysis department and integrating data-driven insights into coaching and performance processes.
⚽ Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Coach in team selection, match preparation, and tactical planning
- Assist in developing team and individual performance goals
- Contribute to game plans, opponent-specific strategies, and implementation of the club’s playing philosophy
- Evaluate team and individual performance following matches and training sessions
- Help create a high-performance environment that encourages accountability and decision-making among players
- Assist in the planning and delivery of training sessions aligned with the club’s game model
- Lead and support small-group, functional, positional, and individual training sessions
- Develop and oversee individual development programmes for designated players
- Deliver regular player feedback through meetings, video review, and performance discussions
- Support player progression through MLS NEXT Pro and Academy pathways
- Manage the First Team Analyst staff and oversee analysis operations
- Lead opponent scouting processes and prepare technical reports for coaching staff
- Deliver opposition presentations to players and staff
- Integrate performance data into scouting and game-planning processes
- Conduct coding and analysis of team performance to support player and team feedback
- Develop in-game metrics and performance tracking systems
- Support coaching staff discussions across all phases of play, including:
- Build-up play
- Finishing attacks
- Offensive transitions
- Defensive transitions
- High pressing
- Mid-block defending
- Low-block defending
- Lead research projects and case studies to support the continued development of the club’s game model
- Contribute to the development of detailed positional profiles and tactical frameworks
- Collaborate with the Sporting Director, General Manager, Recruitment, Performance, and Technical Staff
- Foster a growth mindset and high-performance culture throughout the organisation
- Build strong relationships across the First Team, MLS NEXT Pro, and Academy structures
- Act as a role model through professionalism, communication, and leadership
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- U.S. Soccer B Licence or UEFA equivalent
- Strong football knowledge and tactical understanding
- Experience working within fast-paced, high-performance environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and travel extensively
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours as required

- Experience within professional clubs or national team environments
- Understanding of performance analysis, physical periodisation, and high-performance systems
- Strong opponent analysis and scouting capabilities
