Job Description

Summary: The New York Jets are seeking an Assistant Performance Dietitian to assist the Team Dietitian with nutrition-related tasks and efforts for education and providing information to players, coaches, and staff at the New York Jets Atlantic Health Training Center. The Assistant Performance Dietitian will serve as an integral member of the Performance Team through coordination and implementation of nutrition services. Reports To: Team Dietitian DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Performance Nutrition and Education • Provide consultation and medical nutrition therapy to athletes and coaches through analysis of dietary practices, body composition, and biomarkers in the context of athletic performance and health. • Gather and interpret body composition, sweat concentration, hydration, and biochemical data. • Support Team Dietitian in evaluation of nutritional supplements for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy. • Administer pre, peri, and post-training fuel and hydration strategies. • Counsel athletes on optimal nutrition for performance related to individual goals. • Collaborate with coaches, athletic training, strength & conditioning, sports science, and other individuals from the athletic department. • Evaluate the latest scientific research to assist with innovation-based research projects and stay up to date with best practices. • Develop and deliver nutrition education presentations/demonstrations on various topics related to performance nutrition. • Assist in the development and implementation of performance nutrition policies and procedures. Food Service Management and Operations • Assist with planning and coordinating logistics of home and travel nutrition needs. • Implement and execute gameday fueling strategies for home and away games. • Collaborate with culinary staff for menu review procedures, recipe development, execution of meals/snacks, and procurement of products utilized. • Help maintain operations of fuel bar including food safety/sanitation procedures, inventory, receiving/storage of nutritional items, and continuing good-standing relationships with suppliers. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Registered Dietitian credential (RD) • Bachelor’s degree in sports or clinical nutrition, health science, or dietetics related field • Two (2) or more years of experience working in intercollegiate or professional sports nutrition PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS: • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) or actively working toward credential • Master’s Degree in dietetics, exercise physiology, kinesiology, sports nutrition, or related field • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and have a flexible schedule as needed SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Ability to work extended days and hours including away travel for game schedule • Ability to act according to organizational values and service excellence • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. • Knowledge of food service quality and safety practices • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and counseling skills • Ability to work in a diverse and changing environment • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects • Self-motivation and ability to work both independently and as a team member • Knowledge of NFL Compliance a plus SALARY RANGE FOR THIS ROLE: USD $75,000 - $85,000 per year and discretionary annual company bonus, dependent on the specific qualifications of the successful candidate.  Company benefit programs for full-time employees include: robust medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible-spending and dependent-care account options, company-paid life, AD&D, and disability insurance plans, with additional voluntary supplemental term life & AD&D insurance options, and a variety of other health & wellbeing offerings; 401k plan participation (after 500 hours of service) with company-match and discretionary employer-funded defined contribution; PTO, sick time, paid maternity/parental leave; and access to tickets and parking for all New York Jets home games. ...
