The Associate Vice President, People Business Partner (AVP, PBP) leads the continued evolution of SS&E’s People Business Partner function within a dynamic, multi-franchise, multi-location organization. Reporting to the Chief People Officer (CPO), this role is accountable for strengthening the strategic impact, operational discipline, and business alignment of the PBP model across the enterprise.
This leader advances and modernizes the function, elevating team capability, reinforcing clear standards, and ensuring People Business Partners serve as proactive, insight-driven advisors to the business. Operating in a complex and fast-paced environment, the role requires strong executive influence, the ability to lead through ambiguity, and a balance of strategic perspective and hands-on leadership, particularly during critical enterprise milestones. This leader will also model and reinforce SS&E’s values of Integrity, Success & Caring, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and high performance.
Who You Are:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field required.
• 12+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant experience in Business Partner roles supporting senior leaders.
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience, with demonstrated success developing and leading a high-performing team.
• Experience operating in a complex, multi-entity or multi-location organization.
• Demonstrated experience partnering closely with business leaders, HR Centers of Excellence, and Finance to drive aligned, enterprise-wide people strategies.
• Expertise across core talent and organizational disciplines, including organizational design, workforce planning, performance management, and change leadership.
• Business acumen with the ability to connect people strategy to financial performance and operational outcomes.
• Experience leveraging analytics and insights to inform decision-making.
• Ability to lead Initiatives with disciplined execution and measurable impact.
• Working knowledge of employee relations, compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Ability to align stakeholders to drive sound decisions and enterprise outcomes.
• Proven ability to quickly shift priorities and evolve business needs.
• Experience delivering complex topics in a clear and practical way to drive solutions, scalable processes and clarity and direction in complex, fast-paced environments.
What You’ll Do:
• Own and evolve the People Business Partner function, strengthening team capability and ensuring consistent, business-aligned execution across the enterprise.
• Drive coordinated PBP leadership during critical people milestones: performance management, engagement, and talent planning. Ensure disciplined execution, business alignment, and strong follow-through across business units.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing candid, strategic counsel, constructively challenging assumptions, and guiding sound people and organizational decisions.
• Align leaders and stakeholders across teams, functions, and locations, navigating complexity and ambiguity to drive cohesive enterprise outcomes.
• Partner with the CPO on enterprise organizational effectiveness and change initiatives that strengthen leadership capability, scalability, and long-term performance.
• Advise leaders on organizational design, role clarity, and team structure to ensure alignment between business strategy and talent investments.
• Translate workforce analytics, talent insights, and organizational trends into clear, actionable recommendations that inform decision-making and strengthen organizational performance.
• Build and develop a high-performing PBP team, deepening capability in strategic consulting, change leadership, business acumen, and data-informed decision-making.
• Partner closely with People & Culture Centers of Excellence: Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, HRIS, Employee Relations, and Employee Experience. Ensure integrated, business-aligned delivery of enterprise people strategies and practices.
