Awarded Major League Soccer’s 16th franchise in 2008, the Philadelphia Union officially took the pitch in 2010 and have been raising expectations ever since. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Coordinator, Social Media will be responsible for assisting and maintaining digital strategy implementation across all Philadelphia Union digital platforms. This role will serve as the primary contact for Philadelphia Union II’s social media channels and will lead the club’s planning and execution of the organization’s TikTok strategy.
This position will monitor on-going trends in social media and produce social media content in a timely fashion that can be used by any of the club’s channels. This position requires someone who is deeply entrenched with internet trends with a constant focus on new and innovative ways to distribute content on our channels and grow the club’s audiences. This role will also be a crafty and creative copywriter with a passion for establishing a unique and fun tone supplementing content on our channels.
The Coordinator, Social Media will regularly collaborate with all members of the Content team, including digital, creative and video as well as other departments including but not limited to Marketing, Public Relations, Sponsorship and Community Relations. The position will report to the Manager, Social Media to regularly assess and adjust the club’s on-going social strategy. The ideal candidate is a creative, clever and motived self-starter who has a strong attention to detail and thrives in the fast-paced environment of sports.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media Management
• Assist in managing and publishing content across all Philadelphia Union social platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
• Serve as the primary point of contact for Philadelphia Union II social media channels
• Maintain a consistent and engaging brand voice across all platforms
Content Creation & Execution
• Own the planning, execution, and optimization of the club’s TikTok strategy
• Concept, capture, and edit social-first content including short-form video, trends, and memes
• Assist in real-time coverage of matches, events, and community initiatives
• Collaborate with designers, photographers, and video team members to tailor content for each platform
Strategy & Trends
• Monitor social trends, platform updates, and best practices to inform content strategy
• Identify opportunities to innovate and grow audience engagement across platforms
• Contribute ideas in team brainstorming sessions to evolve content and processes
Collaboration & Organization
• Partner with internal departments to support campaigns, initiatives, and storytelling needs
• Assist in managing content calendars and ensuring timely delivery of assets
• Support additional organizational channels (e.g., mascot, WSFS Bank Sportsplex, Union Foundation)
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1–3 years of experience managing or contributing to social media accounts (internships included)
• Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices
• Experience creating short-form video and platform-native content
