Job Description
Huddersfield Town AFC are seeking a Data Collection and Insight Analyst to join their First Team Performance Analysis department in a newly created role.
Unlike traditional football data collection positions that sit with external providers, this role is embedded within the Club and offers the opportunity to build and maintain bespoke football datasets that directly support First Team Performance and Player Recruitment. Working closely with coaches, analysts, recruiters, and senior football staff, you'll transform raw data into meaningful insights that influence football decision-making.
- Collect, maintain, and quality assure bespoke football datasets across First Team Performance and Player Recruitment.
- Ensure high standards of data accuracy, consistency, and reliability through regular validation and quality assurance checks.
- Maintain multiple football databases throughout the season.
- Analyse football data to identify meaningful trends, patterns, and performance insights.
- Produce actionable analytical outputs that support evidence-based decision-making.
- Deliver reports and insights to support coaching, performance analysis, and player recruitment.
- Work closely with Performance Analysts, Recruitment staff, Coaches, Physical Performance staff, and senior football leadership.
- Understand departmental requirements and deliver tailored data solutions.
- Build relationships with analysts across football and relevant external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of new data collection methodologies and best practice.
- Improve documentation, workflows, and data processes.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and analytical approaches within football.
- Meet demanding operational deadlines throughout the football calendar.
- Support First Team home and away fixtures where required.
- Work evenings and weekends in line with the fixture schedule.
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, Sports Coaching, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of football tactics and the application of data within football.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and matchdays.
Previous experience is not essential — training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for aspiring analysts, recent graduates, or individuals currently working within football data providers.
