Title: Sports Data Scientist

Location: Remote

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000

Our client is seeking a Sports Data Scientist to help us add value to their NCAA basketball clients.

This position is an exciting opportunity to leverage data analysis to provide actionable insights, support decision-making within the NCAA collegiate football, baseball and basketball transfer portal. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports analytics, specifically in football, baseball or basketball, a strong foundation in statistical data analysis and data visualization, along with deep sports knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build predictive models utilizing insights from client and sport knowledge
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify data-driven insights on the transfer portal to collegiate programs
  • Answer ad-hoc questions regarding transfer targeting
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across several data sources
  • Build predictive models utilizing insights from client and sport knowledge

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • Programming experience
  • Proficiency with Python (pandas, polars, numpy) and SQL
  • Experience generating data visualizations programmatically
  • Deep Understanding of sports
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex data concepts to nontechnical audiences
  • Strong self-motivation and curiosity to challenge traditional sports beliefs • * Attention to detail for accurate and timely report delivery

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience playing or working with college football, baseball or basketball teams
