Job Description

The Atlanta Dream are seeking a Basketball Operations Analyst to join their front office and provide critical decision-making support to the General Manager and Basketball Operations department.

This role sits at the intersection of analytics, salary cap management, player personnel evaluation, and basketball operations, helping shape roster construction and long-term team-building strategy in the WNBA.

Basketball Operations Analyst

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop comprehensive salary cap models across the WNBA
  • Serve as an internal expert on the WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Model trade, free agency, and draft scenarios to support decision-making
  • Identify strategic roster-building opportunities through financial and contractual analysis
  • Manage player contract processes from drafting through execution
  • Coordinate contract documentation with the WNBA league office and player representatives
  • Monitor key league dates, contract deadlines, waiver periods, and salary milestones
  • Produce analytical scouting reports on domestic and international players
  • Evaluate league trends, tactical developments, and market values
  • Prepare executive reports, visualisations, and briefing materials for senior leadership
  • Build and maintain internal databases and front-office dashboards
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of player, scouting, and financial information
  • Support wider basketball operations projects and strategic initiatives

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Sports Management, or similar)
  • Experience analysing data or operations within a professional sports environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to decision-makers
  • Experience building models, reports, and operational systems

⭐ Preferred

  • Previous experience within a WNBA or NBA front office environment
  • Knowledge of professional basketball roster construction and salary cap management
  • Experience producing scouting intelligence and personnel evaluations
