Job Description
Derby County are seeking a First Team Tactical Analyst to join their Performance Analysis department at Moor Farm Training Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a Championship First Team environment, taking ownership of post-match analysis while supporting opposition analysis, match preparation, game-plan development, and the delivery of tactical insights that directly influence coaching and performance decisions.
First Team Tactical Analyst
⚽ Key Responsibilities
- Lead the club’s post-match analysis process
- Produce detailed evaluations using video, data, and KPIs
- Identify tactical trends and inform future strategy
- Deliver actionable insights to coaching staff
- Contribute to opposition scouting and pre-match preparation
- Produce reports aligned with the club’s game model
- Create video, telestration, and presentation outputs for coaches
- Monitor tactical trends and maintain relevant datasets
- Support live matchday analysis workflows
- Deliver real-time feedback and coding support
- Assist with technical setup and operational requirements
- Produce training-ground analysis content and support coaching meetings
- Contribute to the development of analysis systems and workflows
- Help drive innovative analytical practices within the First Team environment
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' full-time experience in professional football performance analysis
- Experience within Championship, Premier League, or comparable elite First Team environments preferred
- Experience contributing to live matchday analysis processes
- Strong proficiency with Hudl Sportscode, Wyscout, MatchTracker, and Tactic Pro/Hudl Studio
- Excellent knowledge of MacOS, Keynote, and PowerPoint
- Strong tactical understanding of football
- Experience interpreting football performance data
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver within tight deadlines
- Degree in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, or related discipline

- MSc in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, or related field
- UEFA C Licence or higher
- Professional certifications in performance analysis, data analytics, or video analysis (e.g., APFA, PFSA)
