Bolton Wanderers are seeking a First Team Recruitment Analyst to play a key role within the club’s Recruitment Department, supporting player identification, assessment, and monitoring processes through a combination of video analysis, data insights, and market intelligence.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious analyst to contribute directly to recruitment strategy and squad building by delivering evidence-based player evaluations and supporting decision-making across established and emerging talent markets.
First Team Recruitment Analyst
⚽ Key Responsibilities
- Identify, track, and evaluate players across domestic and international markets
- Conduct detailed video scouting and analysis of player targets across designated leagues and competitions
- Maintain and update recruitment shortlists to support succession planning and player monitoring
- Undertake background checks and due diligence on prospective recruits
- Produce comprehensive player assessment reports and recruitment recommendations
- Prepare player dossiers, presentations, and briefing materials for recruitment meetings
- Create high-quality player highlight and analysis videos using industry-leading software
- Gather and analyse market intelligence to identify emerging recruitment opportunities
- Collaborate with data analysts to refine scouting metrics and recruitment methodologies
- Support the development of analytical tools and player evaluation frameworks
- Contribute to innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the recruitment department
Essential Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Evidence of continued professional development within football recruitment, analysis, or data
- Experience analysing football matches, players, or teams through video, data, or written reports
- Experience producing clear and actionable player assessment reports
- Demonstrable football analysis work through employment, education, independent scouting, blogs, podcasts, newsletters, social media content, or personal projects
- Experience gathering and presenting information to support football decision-making
- Strong understanding of football tactics, positional profiles, playing styles, and recruitment principles
- Ability to assess player suitability against a defined playing philosophy
- Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Strong communication and presentation skills

- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
- FA Talent Identification Level 1 and/or Level 2 qualifications
- Coaching, performance analysis, or data visualisation qualifications
- Experience within a professional football club, academy, or recruitment department
- Experience using Wyscout, StatsBomb, Hudl, SkillCorner, Sportscode, or similar platforms
- Experience supporting recruitment, talent identification, or squad planning processes
- Knowledge of predictive analytics, market modelling, and modern recruitment methodologies
- Experience building recruitment databases and tracking systems
