Sporting Lagos Academy is looking for a passionate and ambitious Performance Analysis Intern to join its growing Performance Analysis department.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a professional academy environment, supporting player development, coaching decisions and recruitment. Whether you're an aspiring analyst or looking to build a career in elite football, Sporting Lagos will provide training, mentorship and exposure to professional performance analysis workflows.
As a Performance Analysis Intern, you'll support the filming, coding and analysis of academy matches and training sessions while helping coaches and players improve through video and data-driven insights.
Working alongside experienced analysts, you'll learn every stage of the analysis process—from data collection to reporting and player feedback—while contributing to one of Nigeria's most ambitious football projects.
- Film academy matches and selected training sessions.
- Code matches using LongoMatch, Hudl Sportscode, or equivalent software.
- Tag training activities to departmental standards.
- Produce post-match reports within 24 hours of fixtures.
- Identify and present key tactical moments for coaches and players.
- Create individual player video packages for one-to-one feedback sessions.
- Maintain an organised academy video archive.
- Ensure all fixtures are correctly labelled, stored and backed up.
- Keep player databases accurate and up to date.
This internship offers exposure to the complete performance analysis workflow, including:
- Opposition analysis and match preparation.
- Recruitment analysis and player assessment.
- First-team performance analysis processes.
- Professional video workflows and analysis software.
- Building a portfolio of real analysis work on academy players.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- A strong tactical understanding of football.
- Excellent organisation and time management.
- Reliability and willingness to learn.
- Ability to receive feedback and continuously improve.
- Professionalism and confidentiality.
- Experience using LongoMatch, Hudl Sportscode, Wyscout, Veo or Excel.
- Background in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Data Analytics or Computer Science.
- Analytical projects or previous analysis work.
- Certifications such as PFSA, NIS, ISF or FIFA Training Centre (advantageous but not essential).
No previous experience with performance analysis software is required, as full training will be provided.
