Job Description

Manchester United are seeking a Positional Scout to support First Team recruitment, succession planning, and long-term talent identification across a dedicated positional market.

Working within the club’s recruitment department, the successful candidate will identify, assess, and monitor players through a combination of live scouting, video analysis, market intelligence, and recruitment insight to support strategic decision-making.

⚽ Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate players through video analysis and live scouting
  • Produce concise and detailed player reports covering strengths, weaknesses, role suitability, and overall assessment
  • Identify elite emerging talent and monitor priority targets
  • Assess player suitability, readiness, and long-term potential against club benchmarks
  • Gather intelligence on player character, professionalism, injury history, and market status
  • Maintain positional shortlists, succession plans, and recruitment databases
  • Track market trends, player valuations, and recruitment opportunities
  • Contribute to recruitment meetings and strategic discussions
  • Collaborate closely with recruitment leadership, scouts, and wider football staff

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in youth and/or senior professional football scouting
  • Strong understanding of player development and talent identification
  • Excellent knowledge of elite football and Premier League standards
  • Ability to produce high-quality scouting reports and recommendations
  • Experience using scouting platforms, video analysis software, and data management systems
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Established football network and relationship-building capability
  • High levels of professionalism, organisation, and discretion
  • Flexibility to travel and work evenings/weekends when required
