Seasonal Writing Intern at Los Angeles Rams

JOB OVERVIEW: This individual will be working directly with our Senior Staff Writer to assist in the coverage of the Los Angeles Rams for therams.com. They will attend press conferences, conduct interviews, and write articles to inform fans of the Rams’ on-field and off-field activities. They may also help with long-term projects, sports analysis and historical research for the team. This position is a 12-month internship RESPONSIBILITIES: • Write articles based on transactions, team news, press conferences and interviews, as well as off-field stories. • Support coverage of marketing and other cross-functional department campaigns as needed, including community initiatives. • Post content (articles, press releases, videos, transactions) to official websites using a content management system. • Collaborate and communicate with Senior Staff Writer, digital media team, and Rams in-house production team in developing content calendar. • Conduct player/coach interviews, as requested. • Manage various tasks for home/away games, including weekends, holidays and evenings. • Actively participate in the monitoring of social media channels to be aware of what fans are talking about and assist in coverage of breaking news. • Assist digital media team/in-house production team during daily practices, press conferences and events as needed. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: • College degree in journalism or equivalent work experience. • Proficient, creative writer with background covering sports, preferably football. • Strong attention to detail, highly collaborative and creative. • Ability to work under multiple deadlines with multiple tasks. • Exercise good news judgment. • Advanced working knowledge of Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram. • Excellent communication skills. • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. • General knowledge of football and the NFL is required. • Ability to display the utmost professionalism in multiple environments.
