Job Description
Overview
Major League Soccer (MLS) is seeking a strategic and operationally disciplined Sr. Manager, Network and Security Operations to lead the engineering and operational maturity of our enterprise and event-driven network environments.
This role is responsible for the reliability, security posture, and operational excellence of MLS’s network and security infrastructure across the League office, Stadium and Venue Network operations and Broadcast and match-day connectivity ecosystems.
Responsibilities
• Own operational health of MLS enterprise and venue network infrastructure.
• Ensure resilient, secure connectivity across HQ, cloud, and match-day environments.
• Lead 24x7 operational readiness planning for match windows and high-profile events.
• Develop operational standards for network monitoring, alerting, and escalation.
• Ensure secure handling of IoT, broadcast equipment, third-party, and vendor connectivity.
• Lead response coordination for network and security incidents.
• Align firewall, NAC, EDR, and SIEM telemetry for rapid detection and containment.
• Ensure operational stability of venues networks and support secure connectivity for Broadcast systems, Officiating technology and Third-party vendor services.
• Develop and maintain documentation for network automation solutions, including design specifications, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Embed change control discipline into all network and security modifications and improve version control systems (e.g. Git) for managing automation code and configurations.
• Ensure vendor solutions align with MLS architectural and security standards.
• Lead and mentor network and security operations engineers by establishing clear accountability, KPIs, and development paths
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience, with 5+ years of mid-level/senior network infrastructure and security support
Required Skills
• Proficient with VPNs, network behavior, WAFs, NG firewalls, IAM, ZTNA, IDS/IPS, proxies, DNS, performance key indicators and network access control.
• Working knowledge of Wi-Fi concepts and standards (e.g. 802.11, RF)
• Familiarity with BGP, Meraki, Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Python, Git, Linux, NetBox
• Demonstrated ability working with SIEM; security orchestration, automation and response; DLP; SWGs; and network forensics.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
• Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays and to occasionally travel
Total Rewards
Starting Base Salary: $135,000-$165,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
