Job Description

Ipswich Town FC are seeking a Set Piece Analyst to lead the analysis of attacking and defensive set-pieces for the First Team.

Working closely with the Set-Piece Coach and coaching staff, you'll deliver high-quality analysis, tactical insights, and performance reporting that directly influence match preparation, player development, and the club's evolving set-piece strategy.

Set Piece Analyst

  • Deliver detailed pre- and post-match analysis of attacking and defensive set-pieces.
  • Identify opposition trends, tactical patterns, and exploitable weaknesses.
  • Produce concise reports using video, telestration, and clear data visualisations.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor long-term set-piece performance across the club.
  • Research domestic and international set-piece trends to identify innovative ideas and best practice.
  • Work closely with the Set-Piece Coach to design, implement, and evaluate game plans.
  • Provide live pitch-side analysis using iPads and TV systems during training and matches.
  • Deliver actionable feedback to coaches and players before and after fixtures.
  • Contribute to the continual development of the club's set-piece culture.
  • Build individual player development plans focused on set-piece performance.
  • Create and maintain the club's digital set-piece philosophy and playbook.
  • Maintain organised databases of set-piece performance, trends, and tactical information.
  • Support the integration of data-driven decision-making throughout the coaching process.
  • Experience working within elite football performance analysis.
  • Advanced understanding of attacking and defensive set-piece analysis.
  • High proficiency using platforms such as Hudl Sportscode, Wyscout, Hudl, StatsBomb, CoachVision, or similar analysis software.
  • Degree in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, elite sporting environment.
  • Experience using TrackMan technology.
  • MSc in Performance Analysis or a related subject.
  • UEFA A or UEFA B Coaching Licence.
