Job Function:
The Sports Turf & Grounds Specialist will assist in maintaining the playing fields and grounds at the Houston Methodist Training Center and the NFL playing field at NRG stadium.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assist in coordinating & implementing field maintenance of practice fields to include mowing, grooming, fertilizing and irrigation.
• Assist in maintaining, painting and setting up the synthetic playing field for NFL games in NRG Stadium.
• Assist in purchasing, maintaining and keeping inventory of maintenance equipment and supplies.
• Operate various pieces of machinery and hand tools in a safe manner.
• Maintaining an effective working relationship with NRG Stadium/Legends Global employeesPerform various other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Security Officer and Director of Facilities Operations.
Position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel and fans at NRG Stadium and/or NRG Park during Houston Texans football games and other Club events; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and/or at NRG Stadium/NRG Park as may be assigned and not in a telecommuting manner.
Skills Required:
• Demonstrate the ability to carry out tasks in a reliable, productive and expedient manner
• Organize & prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
• Follow all policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations and emergency procedures established at the facility
• Communicate effectively with Texans management, NRG Stadium staff and outside vendors
• Work independently and/or with a team in a fast-paced environment while exercising judgement and initiative
• Perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions
• Ability to work long and irregular hours including day, evening, weekends and holidays
• Ability to remain flexible and adjust to various situations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software applications
• Possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States
• Must obtain Texas Pesticide Applicators license within 120 days of employment.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university, with a specialization in Turfgrass Management or related field, preferred.
• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum three (3) years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
