The Premier League’s IT Department is looking for a Systems Engineer to join its development team. The Systems Engineering team’s core function is to design, build, document and maintain various applications used to support the Premier League as an organisation and its participating clubs. The team engages with our key stakeholders in large-scale IT projects to ensure success, ranging from public, club-facing, and in-house applications.
In your role, the preferred candidate will become a member of the existing engineering team, led by the Head of Systems, responsible for designing, building and supporting various applications to the Premier League and its member clubs. The projects will be wide-ranging and varied, reflecting the breadth of technology within the competition.
There are two opportunities available within the Systems Engineering team: one permanent position and one six-month fixed-term contract. Both roles will contribute to the design, development and support of applications used by the Premier League and its member clubs. Please indicate your preference at upon application.

Our hybrid-working model also allows you some variety on your place of work, offering you the chance to work from home on some days each week. Where possible, you will attend the office or site visits in line with our company policy. All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and governance on best practice in user experience, application architecture and software design.
- Develop and maintain front-end applications using TypeScript, Angular and REST-based web service protocols.
- Support the development of other engineers through one-to-one mentoring, knowledge sharing and clear technical documentation.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to investigate, resolve and prevent issues across supported applications.
- Work closely with engineering and infrastructure colleagues to support effective continuous integration and deployment practices.
- Contribute effectively within Agile project teams, supporting delivery against agreed priorities, timelines and standards.
- Apply security best practice throughout the application development lifecycle, recognising the importance of robust security standards for public-facing systems.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Quality Assurance, Security, Infrastructure and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and delivered effectively.
- Experience in working with Typescript, Angular and Web Service Protocols (REST).
- Education in an appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
- Experience of being a project lead.
- Experience in managing matters autonomously.
- Strong technical awareness and the ability to think strategically,
- Outstanding attention to detail and strong analytical and research skills.
- Excellent work ethic and ability to cope with pressurised situations and tight timeframes whilst maintaining a professional approach.
