Advisory Board Member, Sports Predictive Modeling & Analytics at Scoutics
Job Description
About Scoutics
Scoutics is building a sports intelligence platform that combines predictive modeling with event-driven simulation. Our initial focus is soccer and Fantasy Premier League, exploring how team strength, player availability, lineups, and tactical decisions affect possible outcomes.
We are seeking a U.S.-based advisor with expertise in mathematics, statistics, predictive modeling, or sports analytics to help strengthen our models and research direction.
About the role
You will work with the founder and technical team to review modeling approaches, evaluate evidence, and recommend improvements. The role centers on expert guidance, periodic technical reviews, and research planning.
Responsibilities
- Review predictive models for match outcomes, player performance, and fantasy projections.
- Advise on probability calibration, uncertainty estimation, chronological backtesting, and prevention of data leakage.
- Evaluate simulation assumptions and whether simulated outcomes reflect patterns observed in real sports data.
- Recommend appropriate statistical baselines, evaluation metrics, and data sources.
- Help prioritize research and provide guidance on relevant technical hiring and collaborations.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in mathematics, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, data science, physics, or a related quantitative field.
- Demonstrated experience applying statistical modeling, machine learning, or quantitative research to real-world problems.
- Strong understanding of probability, statistical inference, forecasting, and evaluating models on unseen data.
- Familiarity with Python and the ability to review modeling code and technical results.
- Ability to explain assumptions, limitations, and recommendations clearly.
Experience with sports data, Bayesian methods, stochastic processes, Monte Carlo simulation, or fantasy sports forecasting would be particularly valuable. A PhD is welcome but is not required; relevant applied experience is central to the role.
