Job Description

Leicester City Football Club are recruiting a Head of Football Insights to lead an integrated function bringing together Performance Analysis, Data Science and Recruitment data to support high-level football decision-making.

This is a senior leadership position designed to ensure objective, timely and actionable insight informs the club’s football strategy, First Team performance and recruitment processes.

The Head of Football Insights will lead Leicester City’s Football Insights Department, integrating multiple sources of football information into a high-performing and collaborative function.

The successful candidate will work closely with the First Team Manager and Sporting Director, providing objective, evidence-based insight and overseeing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned to the club’s Football Strategy.

The role requires a combination of elite football understanding, analytical leadership and strategic influence, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

The role will include:

  • Lead and develop Leicester City’s Football Insights Department.
  • Integrate Performance Analysis, Data Science and Recruitment data into a cohesive football intelligence function.
  • Provide objective, evidence-based insight to the First Team Manager and Sporting Director.
  • Support strategic and operational football decision-making through actionable analysis.
  • Oversee and develop KPIs linked to the club’s Football Strategy.
  • Ensure insights are delivered in a timely, relevant and accessible way.
  • Connect analytical evidence with elite football tactics, coaching processes and recruitment.
  • Utilise modern analysis platforms, tracking data and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Influence high-level football decisions through objective evidence.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, curiosity and collaboration across the function.

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Significant experience leading Performance Analysis, Data Science or Football Insights within elite professional football.
  • Excellent understanding of elite football tactics and coaching processes.
  • Advanced understanding of Performance Analysis and its application within professional football.
  • Experience working with modern analysis platforms and tracking data.
  • Knowledge and practical application of AI-enabled analytical workflows.
  • Evidence of using objective insight to influence high-level football decision-making.
  • Ability to connect different analytical disciplines and information sources.
  • Strong leadership and collaborative working skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

This represents a significant senior opportunity for experienced practitioners working across the emerging intersection of:

Performance Analysis → Data Science → Recruitment Intelligence → AI → Football Strategy

Rather than treating these areas as separate functions, Leicester City are seeking a leader capable of integrating them into a single Football Insights Department, providing evidence that directly supports the club’s most important football decisions.

Leicester City offer permanent employees:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Life assurance.
  • Up to 33 days annual leave, including bank holidays.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Subsidised staff restaurants.
  • Additional club employee benefits.

Leicester City are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk of harm, with all employees and volunteers expected to share this commitment.

The club is also committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from across the community.

Applications should be submitted through Leicester City Football Club’s recruitment process.

Applications are being reviewed as they are received, with shortlisted candidates invited to interview. The club therefore encourages interested candidates to apply promptly.
