Job Description

City Football Group are recruiting to their Group Talent function, supporting the quality, consistency and development of the scouting data that underpins football decision-making across CFG’s global network of clubs.

This is a hands-on football data operations role focused on maintaining and improving CFG’s internal scouting platform.

The successful candidate will work with scouting information and internal systems to ensure data remains accurate, structured, reliable and accessible, supporting scouts and football stakeholders across the organisation.

It is an interesting opportunity for someone looking to combine SQL, data quality and problem-solving with football scouting and recruitment operations.

  • Maintain the accuracy and consistency of data within CFG’s internal scouting platform.
  • Use SQL and administration tools to extract, update and manipulate scouting data.
  • Undertake regular data-quality checks and identify inconsistencies or errors.
  • Investigate data issues, establish root causes and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain clean and dependable scouting records.
  • Troubleshoot platform and data issues quickly and methodically.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and workflows.
  • Support the continued development of the scouting platform for a global user base.
  • Work closely with scouts, scout managers, IT teams and other internal stakeholders.
  • Translate technical or operational issues into practical actions and clear documentation.

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Experience using SQL to extract, update and manipulate data.
  • Strong understanding of data accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to investigate problems and identify their root causes.
  • A proactive approach to process improvement and problem-solving.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage structured and detail-focused work effectively.
  • Clear communication and confidence collaborating with different stakeholders.
  • A desire to learn and develop within a data-focused elite football environment.

This is slightly different from the traditional recruitment or scouting analyst role.

Rather than directly evaluating players, the position supports the data infrastructure and processes behind CFG’s scouting operation. That makes it particularly relevant for candidates interested in the intersection of football recruitment, scouting intelligence, SQL and data operations.

Working within Group Talent also provides exposure to football decision-making across the wider City Football Group network, rather than a single club environment.

CFG offer a comprehensive package including:

  • 26 days’ annual leave plus your birthday off.
  • Private healthcare and dental cover.
  • Annual discretionary bonus.
  • Pension and life assurance.
  • Health Cash Plan and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Free on-site parking in Manchester.
  • Complimentary breakfast and lunch.
  • Access to sports and leisure clubs.
  • Discounted match tickets and City Store savings.
  • Free City+ subscription and additional lifestyle benefits.

Applications should be submitted through the City Football Group careers site.

Closing date: 10 September 2026
