Job Description

Manchester United are recruiting a Women’s Recruitment Lead to develop and deliver a data-informed player recruitment strategy capable of identifying players who can help Manchester United Women compete for major domestic and European honours.

The position operates across the Women’s and Scouting departments, applying the Club’s wider recruitment models to the specific demands and characteristics of the women’s game.

The Women’s Recruitment Lead will take responsibility for the recruitment pathway from player identification and scouting through to acquisition and onboarding.

The role combines four key areas:

Scouting | Strategy & Data Management | Relationship Management | Player Onboarding

The successful candidate will combine extensive knowledge of the women’s professional game with scouting expertise, data-informed decision-making and a strong network across clubs, agents and other recruitment stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive target database, including player contract dates and likely market values.
  • Attend and assess priority targets across domestic and international markets.
  • Plan and manage the scouting calendar.
  • Ensure recruitment activity complies with relevant scouting regulations, codes of conduct and Club values.
  • Develop and deliver a data-informed player recruitment strategy.
  • Conduct detailed research into leagues, markets and individual players.
  • Support long-term squad planning and succession planning.
  • Assess prospective targets in the context of salary structures, optimal playing ages and work-permit requirements.
  • Produce detailed player reports and recruitment dossiers.
  • Provide concise executive summaries to senior management to support acquisition decisions.
  • Develop a clear recruitment process covering the player journey from identification through to exit.
  • Develop strong internal and external recruitment networks.
  • Build relationships with agents and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Identify clubs with potential for player-development partnerships.
  • Work closely with Manchester United Women staff to ensure consistency across recruitment practices, reporting and methodology.

Lead and coordinate the transition of recruited players into the Club, including:

  • Pre-arrival planning.
  • Football integration.
  • Stakeholder coordination.
  • Relocation support.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications and professional experience providing an understanding of the technical, tactical, physical and psychological demands of professional football.
  • Talent Identification / Scouting qualifications.
  • Full driving licence.
  • In-depth knowledge of players capable of competing at UEFA Women’s Champions League level.
  • Experience developing and implementing recruitment strategies.
  • Professional football club experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the women’s professional game and its agency landscape.
  • Experience using scouting platforms such as Wyscout, iSF, Scout7 or equivalent.
  • Strong IT and digital literacy.
  • Ability to make timely, evidence-informed recruitment decisions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Flexibility to undertake extensive local, national and potentially international travel.

This is a significant senior recruitment position within the women’s game, with responsibility extending beyond traditional scouting.

The role connects the complete recruitment pathway:

Market Intelligence → Data → Scouting → Player Assessment → Squad Planning → Acquisition → Player Onboarding

For an experienced women's football recruitment practitioner, it offers the opportunity to shape the recruitment strategy and future squad construction of Manchester United Women.
