Academy Performance Analyst at Reading Fc
Job Description
Reading FC are looking for a Performance Analyst to join their Academy Analysis Team, with primary responsibility for supporting the U18 programme alongside additional analysis provision across the wider Academy.
The role combines match and training analysis, individual player development, coach support and analyst development, with a strong emphasis on creating age-appropriate learning resources within the Academy environment.
The successful candidate will deliver detailed performance analysis and feedback to players, coaches and multidisciplinary staff, while contributing to the development of well-rounded young players.
Alongside the day-to-day U18 provision, the analyst will support the development of the Academy’s playing philosophy, coaching resources and research activity.
- Film Academy matches at home and away across different age groups.
- Capture and analyse training sessions.
- Code and edit team and individual footage using Hudl Sportscode.
- Produce pre- and post-match presentations.
- Develop individual player profiles using databases and statistical reporting.
- Create team, unit and individual learning content appropriate to players’ age and learning needs.
- Contribute to the Academy’s playing philosophy, coaching syllabus and best-practice resources.
- Lead the Academy’s internship programme.
- Undertake research that adds value to Academy practice.
- Work collaboratively with coaches and multidisciplinary staff to ensure insights are communicated effectively.
- BSc in Sports Science, Sport Studies, Coaching, Performance Analysis or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working within a Category 1 Academy.
- Level 2 coaching qualification.
- Strong understanding of applied Performance Analysis within a player-development environment.
- MSc in Performance Analysis or a related discipline.
- Drone/Flyer ID and experience operating a drone.
This is a particularly interesting Academy role for an analyst who wants to combine hands-on performance analysis with player education and practitioner development.
The responsibility for leading the internship programme, contributing to research and helping develop Academy learning resources means the position extends beyond traditional filming and coding into the wider development of the Academy’s analysis provision.
Reading FC welcomes applications from across the community and is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
As the role involves regulated activity with young people, appointment will be subject to the appropriate DBS, background and reference checks.
