Job Description
North Melbourne Kangaroos are offering an exciting Performance Analysis student placement within their Football Department, providing students with hands-on experience inside a professional AFL high-performance environment. AFL Performance Analyst Student
Successful applicants will work alongside the club’s Performance Analysis team, predominantly from its North Melbourne headquarters.
The placement is designed to accelerate practical learning and provide exposure to the day-to-day analysis processes supporting professional Australian Rules Football.
Opportunities are available across the club’s AFL and VFL programmes, primarily within training environments, with potential involvement on VFL match days.
- Support the set-up and operation of Performance Analysis technology.
- Film training sessions.
- Code and analyse video footage.
- Collect football performance statistics.
- Support data-entry and performance information processes.
- Work alongside Performance Analysts within the Football Department.
- Gain practical exposure to professional training and high-performance workflows.
- Potentially support VFL match-day analysis where circumstances allow.
Contact hours will vary throughout the season and can be adapted around university placement requirements and individual needs.
Applicants must:
- Have completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree in:
- Exercise/Sports Science
- Information Technology
- Statistics
- or an equivalent discipline.
- Have an upcoming placement unit as part of their university course.
- Hold a current and valid Victorian Working with Children Check.
North Melbourne are looking for students who are reliable, eager to learn and comfortable working both collaboratively and independently.
Strong communication, professionalism and work ethic are important.
- Passion for Australian Rules Football.
- Previous exposure to team sport.
- Competency using Excel.
This is an opportunity to build genuine applied experience within a professional high-performance environment while completing a university placement.
Students will gain exposure to video capture, coding, statistics, technology and applied Performance Analysis, working alongside practitioners supporting the club's AFL and VFL programmes.
