Performance Analyst at Gb And England Hockey
Job Description
The UK Sports Institute is seeking a Performance Analyst to support the GB and England Hockey World Class Programme, delivering world-leading performance analysis services to elite international athletes and coaches.
Working within the Performance Analysis team, you will provide video and data capture services across Great Britain and England Men’s and Women’s Hockey programmes. The role includes supporting training camps, domestic delivery, and selected international competitions while working closely with coaches, athletes, and multidisciplinary support staff.
- Capture and prepare video and performance data before, during, and after training sessions and competitions
- Support coaches, athletes, and practitioners with timely and accurate analysis outputs
- Maintain and quality assure comprehensive video and performance databases for GB, England, and opposition teams
- Manage and maintain performance analysis equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Deliver performance analysis workflows that enhance coaching and athlete decision-making
- Support workshops and education sessions to improve understanding and use of performance analysis tools
- Assist in developing analysis workflows for pathway analysts and contractor staff
- Collaborate with UKSI colleagues, England Hockey, and UK Sport partners to support high-performance delivery
- Travel with squads to selected domestic and international competitions
- Operate effectively within a fast-paced, elite performance programme
- Adhere to England Hockey codes of conduct, standards, and performance expectations
- Degree (or equivalent) in Sports Science or a related discipline specialising in Performance Analysis
- Minimum six months' experience delivering video and data analysis within an elite performance sport environment
- Experience working independently while consistently delivering high-quality outputs
- Experience managing performance analysis equipment and established analysis workflows
- Experience supporting analysis provision within invasion sports
- Strong understanding of field hockey
- Knowledge of integrating performance analysis into high-performance programmes
- Proficiency with SportsCode, video capture systems, and analysis workflows
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to complete repetitive analytical tasks accurately
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to build productive relationships with coaches, athletes, and support staff
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and travel nationally and internationally when required
- Higher degree in Performance Analysis or related field
- Experience managing large datasets
- Experience producing data visualisations and analytical reports
- Experience travelling with elite teams to domestic or international competitions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Tableau, or similar data visualisation software
- Ability to communicate complex performance data clearly to a range of audiences
- 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
- Based at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre
- Flexible working pattern agreed around programme demands
- Regular domestic and international travel required, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays during competition periods
This role may involve working with athletes under the age of 18 and is therefore subject to a DBS check.
